Butterflies of India

The weather was gorgeous a week ago on Friday. I thought I would take my daughter to see the "Butterflies of India" Exhibit at the Krohn Conservatory. We've never been there and I've always wanted to check it out myself. She loved it! She wanted a butterfly on her finger but she wasn't sure how to get them. Eventually she warmed up and finally got the hang of it. She really wanted this big blue one but couldn't find one on the ground. We did find a boy who had the blue one on his nose. The butterfly wasn't going anywhere at all. It was pretty cool.

Aside from the butterflies exhibit, we also explored the Rain Forest and Desert garden. That was pretty cool too.
I am definitely planning on going back to take more photos.

Frog photos at COSI

Last Friday, we took the kids to Columbus to check out COSI (Center Of Science and Industry). They currently have the frog exhibit which displays a variety of colorful frogs. The exhibit was great! The kids loved it! The frog exhibit itself was very fascinating. Here are some pictures I took at the exhibit. There were definitely some cool colors and textures to capture.

My Paintings

These are 3 paintings I did last year. I haven't done any since, but I do plan to get back to it again hopefully in the next week or so. I've been contemplating on a few things to paint. I'm just waiting for inspirations to kick back in again.

Sketching away...

Being recently unemployed due to this brutal economy, I obviously gained some extra time on my hands. With this extra time, I've been sketching away what ever comes to mind. It really helps me keep my mind off things and keep me sane at the same time. I almost forgot how much I love sketching this type of stuff.

These are all freehand sketching done on my tablet PC with Sketchbook Pro.

A view through my camera

I recently added photography to my endless list of hobbies. As if I don't have enough. A good buddy of mine I went to college with is basically responsible for getting me into this expensive hobby. I had some basic knowledge of photography back in college, but back then none of it was digital. I've always liked photography, not as a profession but more for a hobby. It was just an expensive thing to get into along with the time and patience when it comes to developing the film, which of course is part of the whole process. It took a while to remember what I've learned, but it's all coming back. Although I can only remember certain things. Thankfully my buddy Nick is very helpful when it comes to sharing tips and techniques. I also have another buddy here locally that is a professional photographer that has given me some great tips as well.

I was blown away when Nick showed me the photos he had taken. It was amazing how much he had learned from the class as if he had been doing this all his life. I am still learning and will keep on doing so. I am working on mastering the tips and tricks that these guys have shared with me and utilize all that info to become a better photographer. It has become another expensive addiction that I'm glad i got into. It truly gives me a way of looking into ordinary things in a different perspective.

I have to admit. If this was still old school SLR film, I don't think I would've got in to it as much as I am now. There's just something about that instant gratification, that as soon as you take that picture you get to see it. I love technology! Here are some pictures I've taken. All pictures are taken on a Canon EOS 30D Digital SLR.
